Married Man

by Yamanashi Moe (山梨もえ)

"Um, sir? Excuse me, is that 'The Detective's Legs' by Tamura Hiroshi?"

The boy standing in front of Tamura is pale and skinny, with wispy red-blonde hair. He wears the uniform of a nearby high school, with the top button of his shirt undone. His face is vaguely feminine, but not so much as to be made fun of by other boys; the sort of face teenage girls are drawn to. He is looking at the book in Tamura's hands with a barely disguised covetousness.

Phallos Hippikos: A Moral Tale

by Kagamino Kage (鏡乃 影)
illustrated by [info]tongari

Dramatis Personae )

Ah, public schooling.

The most marvelous invention of the modern era. A veritable deluge of supple young flesh, of sweet-faced girls with breasts like just-ripened fruits, of lithe young boys strutting about with all the endearing awkwardness of newborn deer. Like fresh peaches just waiting to be plucked, pink-tinged with the ardor and vitality of youth.

In a Spark I Crave a Star

by Mitsui Matsuri (蜜井茉莉)

Francesco was ten he saw his first dead body, sprawled under the wheels of Dottore Loiacono's car. He hadn't meant to make it common knowledge, but the muscle tics on the Gazzetta journalist's face had grown increasingly pronounced the longer he dwelled on politics. It seemed churlish to continue ruining the day of someone who may well be a perfectly good man to his family, despite being wrong on everything else.

And That's the News

by Shukyou (主教) and Tsukizubon Saruko (月図凡然る子)

[The following is a work half of satire, half of imagination, and entirely of fiction. Any resemblance to actual proper nouns is entirely intentional, though imaginative liberties have been taken with the principal characters to the point of near-unrecognisability. The easily offended, die-hard political junkies of any affiliation, and persons lacking a sense of humour are respectfully requested to both grow a thicker skin, and do it somewhere else.]

Damn, Jim swore, slamming the door to his dressing room behind him at such a volume to make it clear to his staff that he did not wish to be disturbed. He was not a man to suffer fools gladly, and suffered even less gladly being made to look like one himself. He made a mental note to fire the producer who'd suggested such a horrific spectacle, then remembered that the one who'd made the suggestion hadn't been his to fire -- and not only that, but Jim himself had consented.

Sky Castles

by Shouga Naiko (生姜ないこ)

Kei was weird and he didn't talk to people much and he wasn't afraid of anything. Kei was -- a mess of dark hair, wide dark eyes and a wide red mouth set on a spindle neck and a taut, narrow body full of knuckles and joints. And not entirely human: it was common enough knowledge, as such "knowledge" goes, that his mother was a fairy. Everyone knew, as well, that he'd sucked off this one boy two years older than him in lunch break once. He wasn't much liked, but he was just strong enough and strange enough not to be picked on by anyone with sense. ... )

Meta (Or, Build God, Then We'll Talk)

by Chikamichi Tano (近路 楽)

Itami has never been one to believe in something without some sort of proof, of evidence that he can see, feel, touch. He's been that way as long as he can remember - he lives for truth and for verifiable fact. He loves science and math for the solid facts they provide but is basically indifferent to anything having to do with religion and its wishy-washy attitudes.

Ixtapa of the Green Eyes

by Nara Kagerou (奈良蜻蛉)

From the private memoirs of Hernando de Soto, conquistador to their majesties Carlos and Isabella of Spain:

We arrived at Cajamarca in late fall, the cool heights of the mountains a welcome relief from the jungle lowlands. Atahuallpa's army was encamped near there, at a hot spring, as he was fresh from defeating his brother Huascar in war. Eighty thousand men he had, and we were barely a thousand, only a tenth of that in Spaniards. Our little army revered us as gods, but they were untrained savages, and most didn't even speak our language.

The Showman

by Tsuki Akari (月あかり)

She had wandered too close to the road. Lettie knew the instant she'd heard the beat of hooves at her back. Her father had warned her, of course. It was a ways to the next town, and the roads were rife with vagrants and highwaymen. For that reason they had camped a safe distance from the dirt path, seared into the plains ages ago. For that reason she had been advised to stay with the troupe, and let her brothers do the wood gathering. Lettie had not listened. Lettie had a terrible sense of direction and a tendency to lose her head to silly fancies. So now, she fancied herself about to be robbed. ... )

In Tune

by Purrsia

The piano tuner was quite attractive, his skin looking dark-skinned white or light-skinned black, Charles couldn't quite determine which. He wore a tight black t-shirt and jeans so tight that no imagination was needed. Adrian, the last piano tuner, had worn dress pants and a button-down shirt, but he supposed young people were dressing more casually these days, and after all, tuning a piano required no uniform.

The Horror from the Deep

by Tamari Erin (玉里えりん)

Carter surged to his feet when his cousin entered the small parlour. "Henry!" he exclaimed, a slight nervous squeak to his voice. He had never liked his uncle's house, and being here after so many years he found that his opinion had changed little.

Left Alone at the Altar

by Kikuchi Makoto (菊池 誠)

I was forced to admit that something wasn't quite right when I nearly burst into tears during the Eucharistic Prayer. It almost surprised me--I hadn't considered myself to be particularly depressed or miserable--but somehow, looking out over the congregation, I felt a sudden weight of loneliness settle over me with crushing intensity.

First Draft

by Tamanegi Amai (玉葱亜麻衣)

It was days like these when Richard was glad he had finished his graduate studies years ago.

He had awoken that Sunday to the furious click clacking of Aaron's frenzied typing as the boy sat at the foot of the bed, laptop resting on his knees. He was as naked as the day he was born except for the bathrobe that lazily hung over his small form. Seems like Aaron was in too much of a hurry to dress this morning, Richard thought with an inner laugh. ... )

Burning Snow

by Zack (ザックス)
illustrated by [info]celectis

Dorcha bounded up the stairs, desperately trying to block out the sounds of screaming. He had to hurry, had to make it before it was too late. His throat burned like fire and little stars danced before his eyes when he finally reached the top of the tower. The door was dark, the wood rotting from decades of keeping the demon sealed within.

In His Eyes

by Shuua (シューア)

"Had a rough day, then?"

It took a moment for Ellis to realize that the words had been directed at him. For one thing, no one said something that cliché to a stranger in a bar, not even in cheesy movies. And for another, no one said anything at all to Ellis, as a rule. He wasn't scary-looking, exactly. It's just that when he was stooped over his drink like he was now, cradling the glass with fierce affinity, looking bleary-eyed and in need of a good shave, few people had the desire to approach him.

The Summer Breeze

by Take Henjyou (他日返静)

The scholar was on the top of the world.

The scholar was in the throes of despair.

The glad tidings was that he, a lowly orphan with little connections and less wealth, had somehow triumphed and emerged as the top scholar in the year's District Examinations. It was a matter as unlikely as the oceans drying, or the mountains crumbling, and yet – and yet! It had happened! To him!

Straight Edge

by More Luck Than Skill

Kyle's eyes never left the careful stroke of the straight razor as he drew it up the underside of his throat and it slid smoothly over his jugular. He didn't need to look to know that Hideki was there. The young man had taken to watching Kyle in the mornings and the feeling of being observed had become almost as much a part of Kyle's daily ritual as the shaving itself.
